Set Sail
As the child of a chief, you are now ready to embark on your very own journey to learn to navigate using the stars. As you sail you will encounter your family scattered across islands. What wisdom do they have to share with you?
You have all the tools
A wayfarer's most important tool is their hand! Use your real-life hand to solve puzzles in-game. How about trying it outside on a starry night?
Atomspheric Setting
Set in ancient Polynesia, Starfarer carefully combines pieces of Hawaiian, Māori, and Samoan culture to craft a setting full of life and knowledge.
Purpose
Starfarer was made as a part of our Bachelor's thesis which explored motivation in-game through the use of Game Based and Narrative Learning theories. The project spanned 6 months, coming to a close in June 2024. The study can be read here.
